Foothills Humane Society
We are a private non-profit, 501c3 no-kill animal welfare organization located on 11 acres nestled in the bucolic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Polk County, North Carolina. We offer adoption-guarantee and serve all of Polk County, North Carolina. Polk County includes the incorporated towns of Columbus, Tryon and Saluda. When capacity permits, we also serve Landrum, Campobello and Gowensville in the northern Greenville and Spartanburg counties of South Carolina, serving an overall service area of approximately 25,000 people and approximately 1,600 animals per year through our various programs.
Our Mission is to shelter and care for stray and surrendered companion animals within our community; prevent cruelty to animals; reunite lost animals with their owners, adopt animals to qualified homes or place them with reputable rescue organizations; and educate the public about responsible animal ownership and population control.
Paws, Prayers, Promises
We believe in building bridges for pets and their people in our community through humane education, assistance with special-cases, adoptions, community awareness, spay and neuter services, and fostering of animals for people facing the ends of their lives until forever homes can be found.
We are a foster based organization. We have no facility, no cages, no kennels, no chains. We do have folks who generously volunteer their time, homes, and hearts in order to help.
